Yesterday I got a detailed list of everything that I am supposed to do. I am able to work on it in whichever order I want, and however I choose to go about doing all of the work. So yesterday I did all of the website information that they wanted me to update. I also made a materials list of what I needed for each lesson. Today I am finishing up the list and making an overall list of what is needed in the lessons in general opposed to what should be in the boxes. Next week I plan to start cleaning out the old boxes and putting in all of the new work. I will also be registering all of the people who did not register for the run online by hand. If anyone wants to run in the race, feel free to come! it should be fun.

May 5- Danielle Mostow
Hey guys! So I also realized that I never said what I was doing. I am working for this organization called Girls on the Run. It is an international organization that empowers young girls to feel confident about themselves and form a bond with other girls, much like sports teams except there is more teaching and discussion that goes along with it and the girls are running together and not in competition with anyone. The national organization is split into local chapters of the organization. So I am working for the Greater Summit chapter of Girls on the Run. Then, the chapters have different sites where the girls can run (they are usually focused around schools). So about 6 years ago, Robyn Cutler started the first Girls on the Run site in Akron and now there will be 30 in the next rotation next fall, and it is still growing. Each lesson has a set curriculum with different papers and materials needed. So I am the person who is creating a list of what is needed for each lesson, organizing it all in an easy way for the next person to do my job, so she/he knows what is needed, then I will do the physical act of putting all of the items in a box for each of the 30 chapters. There are 20 lessons (two per week) and they all lead up to a 5k run/walk for the girls on May 22. It is a lot of busy work, but they need someone to do it, so I am fine with the work.

Sounds like a great organization! How many girls are part of it?
ReplyDeletewell there are 18 sites and at most 17 girls per site, so there are at most 306 girls participating in the program
