One last post for the First Week

My last AP test was today, so I did not go on project (again :( )...

Anyway, one of the highlights of last week was working with a little four year old girl. She was one of the first awake that day, and quickly took me "hostage" to play bingo with her and her mother. It was fun to help her search for the numbers on her card, especially because she had almost every number that was called (unlike either her mother or I). I have to say, she won fair and square. It was also fascinating to watch her try to figure out how to work a broken toy laptop. For one, four year old now have toy laptops? What is the world coming to? For two, she seemed to be able to work it as normally as a child would play with legos or toy cars, which was very interesting.

She was able to go home for the first time in a long time that afternoon. She was adorably excited as she said bye to all the nurses, while wearing her mickey-mouse face mask (which she had to wear while out of the hospital for a while). It is important to note, that although she was quite happy, laughing and dancing with me just that morning, there is no place like home. No matter how hard one might try to make these kids as happy as possible, they still understand that they are not home.
