Beginning of the Second Week Jessica

My schedule for the day was very straightforward; I was supposed to go to a cycling class, go to a Pilates mat class, and a class known as “seniors,” described as a half hour fitness class taught by older volunteers. However, this quickly changed due to a problem in the morning. For starters, I had forgotten that Katie (we’re doing our senior projects together) wasn’t going to be there today because she had an AP exam. As a result, I wasn’t able to interview the instructors. Also, a rather minor disaster occurred in my spinning class.

I thought the spinning class was going to be great because it was taught by an instructor who I’ve worked with as my personal trainer all throughout the summer. While the class was terrific and I got a great workout because she stressed the ideas of intervals, such as leaping from being in a seated position to a standing position on the bike, at the beginning there was quite a predicament. One of the women fell off her bike because she didn’t check whether or not the handle bars were secure. She hopped back on the bike after lying on the ground for a few minutes. Luckily, she didn’t appear to be injured or harmed.

Instead of going to the Pilates mat class, I moved all of the bikes so that none were too close in case anyone else did fall and so that each bike had a clear view of the instructor. Additionally, I tightened all of the seats and handles so that there hopefully won’t be another mishap. I ended up taking the Pilates mat class later in the afternoon. This class reminded me of yoga because of the similar atmosphere. We did few reps of different and difficult motions that focused mainly on the core to create a complete workout.
