Hey everyone! Sorry I am so far behind in posting; but we have been having some serious internet problems (I am also sorry because I will probably have 4 posts in a row to catch up!). I'm not sure if you all know exactly what I am doing for my project so I will start with that. I am working with a Hawken alumnus that is a professional photographer. I will be working with my new Nikon digital camera. I am focusing on nature photography and places that have been "reclaimed" by nature (places that have been abandoned).
I started my first day of project with my AP environmental science test. So, after my test I met with my sponsor. We basically just planned out the specifics of my project and went over the basics of digital photography. We started out by planning the places that I would be able to go to take pictures over the next few weeks. Some places that we are planning on going are down in to Cleveland and an old warehouse down in Chagrin. After we discussed the places that would work for taking pictures he helped me learn the basics of my new camera. It was really helpful to hear his preferences and what he likes to do when he takes his pictures. I learned about the photo quality, ISO sensitivity and the different modes on my camera (I never knew there were so many tiny set up changes to take one picture). He had given me a copy of Photoshop prior to the first day of project, so I had it on my computer. We used a random picture off my computer and he showed me the steps he takes when he is editing photos on the computer. It was a very productive day and I am looking forward to the rest of project.
