Belated Tuesday Blog

Tuesday I met with a graphic designer to see if he would be able to re-design my sponsor’s company’s website. During the meeting I learned how the internet is changing the way businesses function and relay their messages to the public about their companies and products. Also my sponsor wishes to sell products straight from his website to his buyers. This sounds like a simple task, as everyone buys goods from the internet all the time, but it is actually a difficult process. To make this work all of the distributers need to be on board with switching to buying goods online, which can be difficult for some of the older clients who are not used to technology as much. I also discovered how important it is to have a user-friendly site that is easily navigated. If a site has too many things that are not essential to the page it becomes cluttered and potential buyers become frustrated and confused. With this in mind, we also learned that showing pictures of different races is a trick that most businesses use because it allows people of all walks of life to associate with the product. After meeting with the graphic designer I met with the producers of my sponsor’s product. There we learned how difficult it is to get the designer, producer, and distributer on the same page. Lastly, I learned that in today’s downtrodden economy all businesses do everything in their power to ensure no material is wasted when making a product, so that companies can maximize their products.
