Week 2, Day 1 Danielle

Today I did not have to go in until later because I work later on mondays and wednesdays. So I started my day off with yoga. Then I sat on the ground for hours cleaning out envelopes. Each site has a box, and in the boxes, there are large envelopes for each lesson. I needed to clean out all of the old boxes to prepare them to be filled again tomorrow. So I sat on the ground for hours organizing the left over supplies and papers. It made me sore because I sat there so long after doing yoga. But while doing it, I realized how vital of a role I play. The organization GOTR needs someone to do the busy work, and they do not have the right support system to rely on just themselves. It is almost completely volunteer based, and without people offering to help out, nothing could get done. There are already so many people who help with the girls, and do all of the fun things, but without these boxes, the classes would be much more hectic.
After I was done organizing all of last year's boxes, I went to one of the GOTR lessons at Glover School in downtown Akron. It was really fun. We first looked at magazine advertisements and talked about how they were not an accurate view of society. Then we ran around the playground for a few laps. After that, we played on the playground and cheered as people did the monkey bars. It is really fun to play and talk with the girls. One girl told me that the only reason she likes school is because she can go to Girls on the Run twice a week.
