Tuesday and Wednesday

I have been doing a ton of busy work these past two days. I don't really remember what I wrote on Monday, but that was nothing compared to the amount of busy work I have been doing. I started out Tuesday morning cleaning and organizing a closet around the size of a teacher's office that holds 17 large boxes, supplies for the big run on the 22, and new supplies and papers that are used to fill the boxes for the next season. It was a lot of lifting boxes and moving them, trying to get everything to fit nicely and stacking empty boxes. After that was done, I spent the rest of the day finding old envelopes that I cleaned out the day before. I organized them in groups from 1-23 (skipping 8, 17, and 22 for the amount of classes Ohio can manage per season). There were around 15 that I could scrape together while only having to add a few extra envelopes of lost numbers. Then I sat and wrote out 15 more sets. It is amazing how the organization has doubled in a year. Who knows how large it will grow, and how it will support itself.
Then today my task was filling each envelope. Each lesson needs specific things, like a piece of paper for each girl and a worksheet, ect. So I look at my list, and find what needs to go in each envelope. It took me 3 hours to get through 5 sets. So I realized something had to change. Some of the problem was the space. I had this tiny little closet and the hall right outside the closet to work in. This gave me little room to move, and I would have to keep sitting and standing up. So tomorrow I am moving into a larger, more permanent work space which will allow me to stay organized and not need to rearrange every time I needed to close the door or move around. This will speed up the proccess immensely, hopefully.
After all of the busy work, I got to go to Glover School to help with a lesson. Today we talked about community, and how it is important to support the community and work together. Each day the girls run around the fence as a workout. Today, there was a long sentence (with 105 letters in it), and each time someone made it around the playground, one letter was underlined. Before we started running, we were told as a group that if we were able to underline each letter, then everyone would get a secret surprise. The girls were not very excited to run today because it was so hot. The first few laps were a little painful, and I ended up walking with girls, trying to cheer them along. After a while, one of the coaches called everyone together and they realized if we all could run three more, then we would be done. So everyone got excited and they completed their goal. Everyone got a yo-yo and pop rocks. It was very exciting. Next week for a community service project they are making hula hoops for the school.
Even though my day started out monotonous and boring, working with the girls is so much fun, so it made the day a lot better.
