Wednesday

As I begin to write this blog, I am sitting in my preschool room. The shades are closed, the lights are dimmed, and three year olds lay around me in their cots. The boys to my left passes out daily as soon as he hits the cot. The girl to my right whines and complains about rest time every day but usually ends up asleep. the other kids in this classroom are currently trying to crawl around and try to play with the toys instead of napping....They're literally right in front of me...I can see them crawling by...However, they ARE only three and they think the lower they get to the ground the more invisible they are. They also think that whispering means talking directly into someone's ear, so I can also hear every word they're saying...If one of them comes and types gibberish on here for my blog can i take a nap for them? Is that acceptable?...I'm exhausted...Oh well....
Anyway, because I am supposed to be working on improving the Hawken cookbook for my project, last night I took the time to deconstruct a recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and put it onto half sheets of paper. each half-sheet has one step of the recipe on it in large letters and numbers, with visuals to accompany them. It sounds simple but it took quite a while. I also went out and bought the supplies we needed to make the cookies, this too was quite an adventure. In my classroom there are several kids with food allergies, including allergies to all dairy and allergies to eggs. Because of this i had to buy some very specific ingredients so the cookies would be vegan and all of the kids would be able to have one. Unfortunately, this morning, the expensive vegan margarine I bought fell out of my bag and exploded...bummer...The cooking plans have now been moved to next Monday...I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!!

HOPE EVERYONE'S PROJECTS ARE GOING WELL!!!!

  1. I love how when we're kids, we never want to sleep during naptime, but now that we're older all we want (well most people) is a naptime where we can sleep.
